At the advice of several people, today I headed into town to hit up the apparently-famous Cafe du Monde for breakfast, a cafe famous for its beignets (the French equivalent of donuts).

Do you know what beignets are, really? Square pieces of funnel cake. That people eat for breakfast. I love New Orleans…

The table had a bottle of powdered sugar, as if I needed any more... The table had a bottle of powdered sugar, as if I needed any more…

The beignets were as tasty as you’d expect fried dough covered in sugar to be (which is actually pretty tasty). The hot chocolate could have been better, which was a disappointment for a place whose entire menu is six items long. But still, a worthwhile trip.
