I went out this evening to run around downtown Fort Worth before leaving the area.
It is shockingly hard to find well-rated Mexican restaurants in Fort Worth. I spent over an hour checking reviews online before I found one that didn't have either 75% terrible reviews, or some glowing reviews peppered with reviews so bad I just didn't want to take the chance.
The place I eventually went to was pretty nice. The waiter was very insistent on giving me lots of chips. I finished the first bowl. He offered me more as the food was coming out, but I turned him down. He offered me again a few minutes later. Shortly after that, "are you sure you don't want more chips?". Then when it was time to go he brought me a box for my meal, and another for the chips. So, yeah, I got chips. At least they were very tasty chips!
Went down the road to just outside the downtown district, parked my truck in some free parking across the river, over by a very nice walking trail area, then scootered into downtown.
Near the parking space was the Tarrant County College Fort Worth campus. It was a very attractively-designed campus compared to NCSU, making me very jealous.
TCC had this really neat pond thing leading up to a colored waterfall. I waked along the back edge, along a ledge a couple stories in the air, to the end to get a picture of the other side.
Downtown Fort Worth is pretty cool to see! Lots of shiny colored lights and artsy shapes. It's a nice change from the sheer commercialism of downtown New Orleans etc.
I got some yummy frozen gelato from a place that sucked me in with their promise of free samples. I knew before I even walked in that I wouldn't get out for free, but I went in anyway :p
Yes, that gelato does look just like raw chicken.
I made my way a mile down the road to the water garden- a scenic area with a bunch of water spigots illuminated by color-cycling lights. It seems to be a popular attraction for amateur photographers- I saw three or four girls with big bags of gear and fancy cameras wandering around, taking pictures.!(/squarespace_images/static_51257568e4b001d57f7b2d0b_51257673e4b001d57f7b3133_516622bce4b00ae130cde878_1365648062207__img.jpg) !(/squarespace_images/static_51257568e4b001d57f7b2d0b_51257673e4b001d57f7b3133_516622cde4b053615296f7c2_1365648081277__img.jpg) ![It's a comic strip spanning hundreds of feet along a construction fence.
