How to waterproof a level 1 EV charging cord

I charge my EV at home, but for ✨reasons✨ I use a level 1 charger that's outdoors and exposed to the elements. There are quite a few waterproof chargers, all of which require a plug adapter that's not waterproof.

(Not that any of the product listings spell that out, so I'll bet someone's burned their house down thinking the entire product was waterproof.)

Anyways, I spent quite a while figuring out how to waterproof the plug adapter. It's far, far too large for outdoor plug covers. It's too large for many utility boxes. The cords are thicker than most waterproof housings accommodate, and they don't bend enough to be routed out some housings' portholes.

It turns out there's an easy answer: silicone tape, found at your local hardware store. It's waterproof, UV resistant, electrically insulating, and withstands extreme heat & cold.

Just wrap it around your plug, stretching it out as you go. There's no adhesive - the material molecularly fuses to itself, leaving no gaps or leaks.

Works great, and doesn't require installing some kind of housing, and fits anything.
